I’m a first time home owner and I bought this to help take care of the numerous odd jobs that keep cropping up. I’ve never heard of Makita, and I was a little nervous about shelling out for something I didn’t know anything about, but I’m really glad I did. Here’s the good and the bad in no specific order:
Solid all purpose Drill / Driver
on April 27, 2012
This tool will easily perform the majority of the tasks requiring a 3/8 drill. I got this to accompany the 10.8v makita impact driver I purchased a while back. If you have the need for a drill and impact driver I suggest getting the set to save you a couple bucks. If you need just a lithium ion 3/8 Drill/ Driver this is a great pick. Compact and very powerful. This is a solid tool.
If you try to sell me a pink powered screwdriver, I’ll throw it at you.

HOLY CRAP. If you are a woman who likes her tools, BUY THIS DRILL. The best ergonomic drill for my hands I’ve found, and shockingly powerful for a variety of jobs (drilling holes in concrete anyone?). Looks great, almost cute, and the batteries last for eons (extra battery too? sweet!).

Solid little drill. 4.5 stars compared to Dewalt 12V max because I think the dewalt spins faster and has a flat battery that stands up when you set it down. This has to sit on it;s side. Got it for $79.99 with two batteries, drill, case, charger. I was looking for batteries, but got all this! Perfect price. I am an aircraft mechanic and use it on inspection panels and small nuts and small drilling applications when I don’t want to get my airhose out. Fits nice and flat in a tool box. Also, Dewalt has a smaller grip. I have owned both, but the Dewalt 12v is spendy and for a few bucks more you can get the 20V, so these fit that cheap and great quality range I was looking for.
Extremely Small and Lightweight Yet Powerful
on February 4, 2018
This thing is SMALL and quite light but seems to be more than powerful enough for the average user.

Small and Powerful!
on April 18, 2017
So small but powerful! I used this to install a pull-out trash can in my hardwood cabinets. It predrilled holes easily and the installation only took a few minutes. I love the size and the slim carrying case – it is easy to store in my apartment.
it’s a really good value. 2 batteries

Got this on discount as a return, it’s a really good value. 2 batteries, charger, and the drill, plus a driver bit. Good enough for probably an hour of solid drilling into plaster/brick, the battery charged just quick enough that I could keep going when the last one died. I put up about 15 brackets with 3 screws each in a few hours, and I had to drill into some brick for each one… got really hot but did the job.
Perfect Drill for a Tight Places!
on July 13, 2018
I purchased this model specifically for my sister. After reading the reviews, I was sold. My sister does have smaller hands! She wanted to be able to fix things around the house. She has! The perfect thing about this particular unit, when she was fixing the toilet with extremely limited space to work (tub/toilet in close proximity), it worked like a boss! I’m elated she asked me to get her a drill for Christmas. Had she picked up a cheap one, she’d probably would have been out more money in the long run. This drill has saved her on numerous projects!!!

It’s not the full Professional version, but for the household Honey-Do list it, this Makita will not disappoint you. I find it odd that they changed the color scheme for the tool itself but kept the classic Makita Green Case.
